Five-year-survey of invasive aspergillosis in a paediatric cancer centre. Epidemiology, management and long-term survival.
Andreas H. Groll,Marianne Kurz,W. Schneider,Volker Witt,Helga Schmidt,M. Schneider,Dirk Schwabe +6 more
TL;DR: The frequency of invasive aspergillosis of greater than 15% in paediatric patients with acute myeloblastic leukaemia and recurrent leukaemias warrants the systematic investigation of preventive strategies in these highly vulnerable subgroups.
Journal ArticleDOI
Leucocyte transfusions from rhG-CSF or prednisolone stimulated donors for treatment of severe infections in immunocompromised neutropenic patients
Christoph Peters,Milen Minkov,Susanne Matthes-Martin,Ulrike Pötschger,Volker Witt,Georg Mann,Paul Höcker,Nina Worel,Jan Stary,T Klingebiel,Helmut Gadner +10 more
TL;DR: The transfusion of leucocytes collected by continuous flow leukapheresis from both rhG‐CSF and prednisolone stimulated donors resulted in a measurable increment of the peripheral leucocyte and ANC counts in the authors' patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Side effects are presented in relation to the procedures and it is suggested that safety is increased by regular vital sign measurements, cardiac monitoring and by having emergency equipment nearby.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transplantation of highly purified peripheral blood CD34+ cells from HLA-mismatched parental donors in 14 children: evaluation of early monitoring of engraftment.
Christoph Peters,Susanne Matthes-Martin,Gerhard Fritsch,Wolfgang Holter,Thomas Lion,Volker Witt,Paul Höcker,Gottfried Fischer,K. Dieckmann,Rupert Handgretinger,T. Klingebiel,Helmut Gadner +11 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that transplantation of allogeneic PBSC from haploidentical donors will open new perspectives for pediatric patients for whom an HLA-matched stem cell graft is not available, and close monitoring of recipient and donor hematopoiesis might be of clinical value, to recognize early engraftment or rejection.
