Journal ArticleDOI

Premyelinating oligodendrocytes in chronic lesions of multiple sclerosis

TL;DR: Understanding the cellular interactions between premyelinating oligodendrocytes, axons, and the microenvironment of lesions of multiple sclerosis may lead to effective strategies for enhancing remyelination.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of common variants influencing risk of the tauopathy progressive supranuclear palsy

Günter U. Höglinger, +140 more
- 01 Jul 2011 -
TL;DR: Two independent variants in MAPT affecting risk for PSP are confirmed, one of which influences MAPT brain expression and the genes implicated encode proteins for vesicle-membrane fusion at the Golgi-endosomal interface and for a myelin structural component.
Journal ArticleDOI

Human brain dopamine receptors in children and aging adults.

TL;DR: The observed decline in the human D1/D2 ratio with age suggests that the perioral control mechanisms for humans and rats may be different.
Journal ArticleDOI

Intra-blood-brain-barrier synthesis of HTLV-III-specific IgG in patients with neurologic symptoms associated with AIDS or AIDS-related complex.

TL;DR: Intra-blood-brain-barrier production of virus-specific antibody is good evidence of infection within the blood-brain barrier, suggesting that HTLV-III infection of neurologic tissue occurs in the majority of patients with neurologic disease associated with AIDS or its related complex.
