TL;DR: In this paper, a comprehensive review of rice biochar (RBC) and rice compost (RC) applications with respect to preparation and characterization is presented, with a focus on the potential for the sustainable use of RBC and RC in the management of contaminated soils and water as well as the construction industry.
Abstract: Rice is second only to maize among the world's most important cereal crops, with a global harvested area of approximately 158 million hectares and an annual production of more than 700 million tonnes as paddy rice. At this scale, rice production generates vast amounts of waste in the form of straw, husk, and bran. Because of high cellulose, lignin, and silica contents, rice biowaste (RB) can be used to produce rice biochar (RBC) and rice compost (RC). Furthermore, RB can be used as sorbents, soil conditioners, bricks/concrete blocks, flat steel products, and biofuels, all of which make significant contributions to meeting United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs). Although previous reviews have explored individual applications of rice feedstocks, inadequate attention has been paid to multifunctional values and potential multi-utilities. Here, we offer a comprehensive review of RBC and RC with respect to: (1) preparation and characterization; (2) applications as soil conditioners and organic fertilizers and their effects on soil-carbon sequestration; (3) remediation of toxic element–contaminated soils and water; (4) removal of colors, dyes, endocrine-disrupting chemicals, personal-care products, and residual pesticides from water; and (5) applications in the construction industry. Specifically, we describe the opportunities for the sustainable use of RBC and RC in the management of contaminated soils and water as well as the construction industry. Overall, this review is expected to lengthen the list of possible multifunctional applications of RBC and RC.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors analyzed the supply chain finance and block chain technology in the context of edge computing and proposed an optimized plan that can effectively control supply chain financing, which greatly reduces the risks of all parties in the finance.
Abstract: The implementation of the “Internet +” policy advocated by the state has also led to rapid development of Internet finance. In order to promote changes in business development models, as a pioneering work for banks serving the real economy, supply chains are being developed to address small and medium-sized enterprises. The financing of enterprises, the transformation and development needs of banks themselves, and the promotion of logistics technology. Edge computing refers to an open platform that integrates network, data processing, storage and application core functions, and can provide the closest end-of-page service near the object data source to meet real-time, application intelligence, security and privacy Sexual needs. The core of supply chain financing is to establish an optimized plan that can effectively control supply chain financing. By integrating the financing literature of the supply chain, the settlement cost in the supply chain can be solved. Based on theoretical research, this article analyzes supply chain financing and block chain technology. Combined with the current specific situation of block chain in supply chain financing, the management system, cash flow of the supply chain, and risk control system are analyzed. All parties to the supply chain financing optimize the supply chain financing risk control system while reducing business costs and improving corporate efficiency, which greatly reduces the risks of all parties in the supply chain financing. The block chain Iota environment based on shared data and advanced data processing has very powerful theoretical and practical significance for promoting the development of commercial banks and enterprises.

TL;DR: In this paper, a simple and effective adaptive surrogate model to structural reliability analysis using deep neural network (DNN) is introduced, in which initial design of experiments (DoEs) are randomly selected from a given Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) population to build the global approximate model of performance function (PF).
Abstract: This article introduces a simple and effective adaptive surrogate model to structural reliability analysis using deep neural network (DNN). In this paradigm, initial design of experiments (DoEs) are randomly selected from a given Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) population to build the global approximate model of performance function (PF). More important points on the boundary of limit state function (LSF) and their vicinities are subsequently added relied on the surrogate model to enhance its accuracy without any complex techniques. A threshold is proposed to switch from a globally predicting model to a locally one for the approximation of LSF by eradicating previously used unimportant and noise points. Accordingly, the surrogate model becomes more precise for the MCS-based failure probability assessment with only a small number of experiments. Six numerical examples with highly nonlinear properties, various distributions of random variables and multiple failure modes, namely three benchmark ones regarding explicit mathematical PFs and the others relating to finite element method (FEM)-programmed truss structures under free vibration, are examined to validate the present approach.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented the nonlinear vibration of porous functionally graded sandwich plate on elastic foundations subjected to blast loading by the analytical approach, where the blast loading was assumed to be uniformly distributed on the surface of the sandwich plate and modeled by an exponential function.
Abstract: This paper presents the nonlinear vibration of porous functionally graded sandwich plate on elastic foundations subjected to blast loading by the analytical approach. The sandwich plate consists of two FGM face sheets and a homogeneous core which is made from metal or ceramic. Two types of porosity distribution, including evenly and unevenly distributed porosity have been considered for sandwich plate. The material properties of sandwich plate are assumed to vary in the thickness direction according to simple power law distribution with a volume fraction index and a porosity coefficient. The blast loading is assumed to be uniformly distributed on the surface of the sandwich plate and modeled by an exponential function. The Reddy’s higher order shear deformation theory with von Karman type nonlinearity is used to establish governing equations for the vibration of sandwich plate. By applying Galerkin and fourth-order Runge–Kutta methods, the numerical results show the effects of volume fraction index, porosity coefficient, type of porosity distribution, geometrical parameters, elastic foundations and parameters of blast loading on the nonlinear vibration of the sandwich plate. Comparisons are conducted to evaluate the reliability of the obtained results.
