This paper presents three IEEE standardized power system benchmarks developed in SimPowerSystems, a MATLAB/Simulink package. The simulation models can be used for baselining and testing new control techniques and protection algorithms for renewable and micro grids integration studies. Analytical examples as well as static, time domain, and frequency analysis are presented to support the correctness of the implementation. The models are available in MATLAB-Central file exchange for power system education and research worldwide.

Real-Time Image and Video Processing: From Research to Reality

The digital implementations of Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) generators have dominated over their counterparts based on analog circuits. In this paper, an FPGA-based SPWM generator is presented, which is capable to operate at switching frequencies up to 1 MHz (requiring FPGA operation at 100-160 MHz), thus it is capable to support the high switching frequency requirements of modern single-phase dc/ac power converters. The proposed design occupies a small fraction of a medium-sized FPGA and, thus, can be incorporated in larger designs. Additionally, it has a flexible architecture that can be tuned to a variety of single-phase dc/ac inverter applications. The post-layout simulation and experimental results confirm that compared to the past-proposed SPWM generation designs, the SPWM generator presented in this paper exhibits much faster switching frequency, lower power consumption, and higher accuracy of generating the desired SPWM waveform.

Development of an FPGA-Based SPWM Generator for High Switching Frequency DC/AC Inverters

The combination of MIMO and OFDM gives a very attractive option for high data rate communication in wireless communication system over frequency selective fading. However, MIMO-OFDM also inherent the PAPR problem from OFDM system. We proposed our SCS technique and modified SLM technique to be applied in diversity MIMO-OFDM system for PAPR and BER performance improvement. The utilization of circulant shift codeword from SCS technique with multiplication of phase factor of SLM technique in preparing several candidates for interleaving technique is proposed in MIMO-OFDM system. This approach gave a new solution of reducing high PAPR in MIMO-OFDM system. Moreover, by using diversity MIMO-OFDM which is STFBC, the improvement of BER performance also can be improved until 55%.

Papr reduction using scs-slm technique in stfbc mimo-ofdm

This paper is focusing on optimizing harmonic content in Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) design. This SPWM is designed using VHDL and implemented on ALTERA (DE2-70 board). SPWM output is generated by intersection between sine signal and triangle signal. Sine signal is the reference waveform and triangle waveform is the carrier waveform. When value sine signal is large than triangle signal, the pulse will start produce to high. And then when the triangular signals higher than sine signal, the pulse will come to low. SPWM output will changed by changing the value of number of bit, modulation index and frequency used in this system to produce more pulse width. The more pulse width produced, the output voltage will have lower harmonics contents and the resolution increase.

Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) Design and Implementation by Focusing on Reducing Harmonic Content

This paper presents the operation of buck and boost rectifier using a single-phase matrix converter topology. Due to symmetrical and bi-directional capabilities the topology is made to operate as buck and boost rectifier. This is facilitated through proper switching control algorithm. The circuit behaviour is confirmed by MATLAB/Simulink simulation results verified experimentally in practical realisation.

This paper presents improved switching strategy sequence of single-phase matrix converter (SPMC) as a direct AC-AC converter modulated by the sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM). The strategy was implemented using MATLAB/Simulink with the SimPower System Block Set. Comparisons with PSPICE are made. The insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) was used for the switching device. New switching control for safe-commutation strategies has been defined and implemented to solve switching transients with sample verification on results.

The model was implemented using MATLAB/Simulink with the SimPowerSystem Block Set. Comparisons with Pspice are made. The Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) was used for the switching device. Safe-communication strategy was implemented to solve switching transients with sample verification on results.
