Journal ArticleDOI

Osteogenic activity of the fourteen types of human bone morphogenetic proteins (bmps)

TL;DR: Bone morphogenic proteins (BMPs) are known to promote osteogenesis, and clinical trials are currently underway to evaluate the ability of certain BMPs to promote fracture-healing and spinal fusion as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI

A protocol for rapid generation of recombinant adenoviruses using the AdEasy system

TL;DR: This protocol describes the practical aspects of using the AdEasy system for generating recombinant adenoviruses and describes the process of generating and testing recombinantAdenoviral plasmids for a variety of purposes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of the distinct orthotopic bone-forming activity of 14 BMPs using recombinant adenovirus-mediated gene delivery.

TL;DR: Rec recombinant adenoviruses expressing the 14 types of BMPs are used and it is demonstrated that BMP-6 and B MP-9 effectively induced orthotopic ossification when either AdBMP-transduced osteoblast progenitors or the viral vectors were injected into the quadriceps of athymic mice.
Journal ArticleDOI

Osteogenic activity of the fourteen types of human bone morphogenetic proteins (BMPs)1

TL;DR: The results suggest an osteogenic hierarchical model in which BMP-2, 6, and 9 may play an important role in inducing osteoblast differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells, whereas most BMPs are able to stimulate osteogenesis in mature osteoblasts.
