Plesovice zircon : A new natural reference material for U-Pb and Hf isotopic microanalysis
Jirri Slama,Jirri Slama,Jirri Slama,Jan Košler,Daniel J. Condon,James L. Crowley,Axel Gerdes,John M. Hanchar,Matthew S.A. Horstwood,George A. Morris,Lutz Nasdala,Nicholas Norberg,Urs Schaltegger,Blair Schoene,Michael Tubrett,Martin J. Whitehouse +15 more
TL;DR: The Plesovice zircon as discussed by the authors has a concordant U-Pb age with a weighted mean Pb-206/U-238 date of 337.13 +/- 0.37 Ma (ID-TIMS, 95% confidence limits, including tracer calibration uncertainty).
Journal ArticleDOI
Zircon M257 ‐ a Homogeneous Natural Reference Material for the Ion Microprobe U‐Pb Analysis of Zircon
Lutz Nasdala,Wolfgang Hofmeister,Nicholas Norberg,James M. Martinson,Fernando Corfu,Wolfgang Dörr,Sandra L. Kamo,Allen K. Kennedy,Andreas Kronz,Peter W. Reiners,Dirk Frei,Jan Košler,Yusheng Wan,Jens Götze,Tobias Häger,Alfred Kröner,John W. Valley +16 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed a new reference material for the determination of zircon U-Pb ages by means of secondary ion mass spectrometry, namely Zircon M257.
Journal ArticleDOI
Community‐Derived Standards for LA‐ICP‐MS U‐(Th‐)Pb Geochronology – Uncertainty Propagation, Age Interpretation and Data Reporting
Matthew S.A. Horstwood,Jan Košler,George E. Gehrels,Simon E. Jackson,Noah McLean,Chad Paton,Norman J. Pearson,Keith N. Sircombe,Paul J. Sylvester,Pieter Vermeesch,James F. Bowring,Daniel J. Condon,Blair Schoene +12 more
TL;DR: The LA-ICP-MS U-(Th-)Pb geochronology international community has defined new standards for the determination of U-(th)-Pb ages as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Present Trends and the Future of Zircon in Geochronology: Laser Ablation ICPMS
Jan Košler,Paul J. Sylvester +1 more
TL;DR: In situ U-Th-Pb geochronology was born some two decades ago with the introduction and development of high-resolution secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS or SHRIMP [Sensitive High Mass Resolution Ion MicroProbe]).
Journal ArticleDOI
U–Pb dating of detrital zircons for sediment provenance studies—a comparison of laser ablation ICPMS and SIMS techniques
TL;DR: In this article, a real-time mass bias correction is made by aspirating a Tl/U tracer at the same time as laser ablation, which is similar to that described in Horn et al. (2000), except that enriched 233U rather than 235U is used in the tracer solution Correction for laser-induced Pb/U elemental fractionation is based on a mathematical treatment of time-resolved data that is independent of laser-ablation characteristics.
