Journal ArticleDOI

The Composition of Zircon and Igneous and Metamorphic Petrogenesis

TL;DR: The importance of zircon in crustal evolution studies is underscored by its predominant use in U-Th-Pb geochronology and investigations of the temporal evolution of both the crust and lithospheric mantle as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Re-equilibration of Zircon in Aqueous Fluids and Melts

TL;DR: In both aqueous fluids and melts, replacement of zircon with undamaged structure by a coupled dissolution-reprecipitation process can produce similar textures as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Growth, annealing and recrystallization of zircon and preservation of monazite in high-grade metamorphism: conventional and in-situ U-Pb isotope, cathodoluminescence and microchemical evidence

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used secondary electron (SEM) and cathodoluminescence (CL) imaging to date zircon and monazite from granulite-to amphibolite-facies rocks of the Vosges mountains (central Variscan Belt, eastern France) by ion-microprobe and conventional U-Pb techniques.
Journal ArticleDOI

Correlating the end-Triassic mass extinction and flood basalt volcanism at the 100 ka level

TL;DR: In this paper, high-precision U/Pb geochronology from volcanic ashes was used to show that the Triassic-Juras-sic boundary and end-Triassic biological crisis from two independent marine stratigraphic sections correlate with the onset of terrestrial fl ood volcanism in the Central Atlantic Magmatic Province to <150 ka.
