Journal ArticleDOI
Mutant Prevention Concentrations of Fluoroquinolones for Clinical Isolates of Streptococcus pneumoniae
TL;DR: Since MPCpr overestimates MPC, these data identify moxifloxacin and gatiflOxacin as good candidates for determining whether MPCPR can be used as a guide for choosing and eventually administering fluoroquinolones to significantly reduce the development of resistance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antimicrobial Use Guidelines for Treatment of Urinary Tract Disease in Dogs and Cats: Antimicrobial Guidelines Working Group of the International Society for Companion Animal Infectious Diseases
J. Scott Weese,Joseph M Blondeau,Dawn M. Boothe,Edward B. Breitschwerdt,Luca Guardabassi,Andrew Hillier,David H. Lloyd,Mark G. Papich,Shelley C. Rankin,John D. Turnidge,John D. Turnidge,Jane E. Sykes +11 more
TL;DR: The guidelines for diagnosis and management of urinary tract infections were created by a Working Group of the International Society for Companion Animal Infectious Diseases (ISCIID) in this paper, which is a common reason for use (and misuse, improper use, and overuse) of antimicrobials in dogs and cats.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antimicrobial use Guidelines for Treatment of Respiratory Tract Disease in Dogs and Cats: Antimicrobial Guidelines Working Group of the International Society for Companion Animal Infectious Diseases.

TL;DR: The International Society for Companion Animal Infectious Diseases convened a Working Group of clinical microbiologists, pharmacologists, and internists to share experiences, examine scientific data, review clinical trials, and develop these guidelines to assist veterinarians in making antimicrobial treatment choices.

TL;DR: This document is a revision and expansion on the 2011 Antimicrobial Use Guidelines for Treatment of Urinary Tract Disease in Dogs and Cats, providing recommendations for diagnosis and management of sporadic bacterial cystitis, recurrent bacterial cyStitis, pyelonephritis, bacterial prostatitis, and subclinical bacteriuria.
Journal ArticleDOI
Guidelines for the diagnosis and antimicrobial therapy of canine superficial bacterial folliculitis (Antimicrobial Guidelines Working Group of the International Society for Companion Animal Infectious Diseases).

TL;DR: Optimal management of SBF will improve antimicrobial use and reduce selection of MRSP and other multidrug-resistant bacteria affecting animal and human health.
