Many companies implement lean six sigma (LSS) approach aiming to improve business performance. However, not many companies can be benefited from this program as the implementation is not easy to be executed effectively. Thus, the objective of this study is to identify the important factors in LSS implementation and its relation on operational performance (OP) of the business. This study employed quantitative survey with structured questionnaire. Random sampling was used and the sample of this study was SME manufacturing companies which has implemented LSS approach. A set of questionnaires were sent out to 200 companies through email and targeted to LSS practitioners such as managing director, quality manager and production manager. Finally, 63 response have been received with 32% response rate. Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) 22.0 version software was used to evaluate descriptive and the relationship between variables. This research studies the role of three factors in LSS implementation, which are management engagement and leadership, lean six sigma competency, and effective training and education. The findings revealed that there is a significant relationship between LSS factors with OP. Management engagement and leadership was the most perceived important factor in LSS implementation. This research model serve as a practical guide which can assist the company to achieve better operational business performance.

Critical Success Factors of Lean Six Sigma and Its Relation on Operational Performance of SMEs Manufacturing Companies: A survey Result

New product design and process design are vital aspects for a company to survive in in global competition market. Product design determines in the success of a company through how product design can accomplish in today's marketplace and customer needs. Nevertheless, many new products which have been developed from research and development fail to compete in global market due to product performance issue such as quality, cost and delivery. Besides, many new product design is not capable to match with the process design and machine capability in production process. The objective of this paper is to identify the relationship between new product design and new product process design towards new product performance in manufacturing industry. Random sampling techniques have been used by distributing questionnaire to 400 companies in Malaysia manufacturing sector. 80 companies had replied with the respond rate of 20%. The result shows that the extent level of new product design and process design are moderate and high level respectively. Furthermore, there is a significant relationship between new product process design and new product performance (r(80) = 0.570, p 0.05). The study is important to gain insight on the effect of new product design and new product process design towards new product performance.

However, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have limited resources and awareness for implementing TQM tools in their organisation. Hence, the purpose of this research is to identify the extent level of TQM tools and to examine the relationship between TQM tools and organisational performance. Research hypotheses were examined while considering twenty TQM tools which considered important in TQM implementation. Random sampling and survey have been used by distributing questionnaire to 200 respondents for final study. The study result shows that the extent level in TQM tools is in high and moderate level. Furthermore, there is a significant relationship between TQM tools and organisational performance in SMEs. However, the relationships are in moderate and low level. The relationship between TQM tools and organisation performance in small and medium enterprise (SMEs)

Over the last three decades, publicized catastrophes like Enron, WorldCom have dented credibility of the auditing profession. It must be noted that despite rigorous auditing guidelines and standards being in place, Pakistan has had its share of corporate financial scandals such as Crescent Standard Bank scandal in 2006 and Taj company in 2004. In the light of these scandals, there is a need to investigate occurrences and causes of these failures, which is still limited in terms of empirical investigation conducted in Pakistan. The current study focused on determinants of dysfunctional audit behaviour; namely under reporting of time, premature sign off and altering procedure. Therefore, this study examined the influence of time budget pressure and professional skepticism on dysfunctional audit behaviour dimensions such as under reporting of time and premature sign off. Emotional intelligence was also examined as a moderator in the effect of time budget pressure on premature sign off and under reporting of time. The sample was 314 auditors employed at the Big4 and NonBig4 firms in Pakistan. Data were collected by questionnaire survey methods. For the data analysis purpose, SPSS- version 22 was used for descriptive and inferential statistics whereas Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) approach using AMOS version-22 was utilized for hypothetical relationship. Findings suggest that perceived level of dysfunctional audit behaviour, and time budget pressure were higher among junior level auditors in comparison to senior auditors. The perceived level of dysfunctional audit behaviour, and time budget pressure were higher in NonBig4 in comparison to Big4 firms. Findings also showed that the perceived level of professional skepticism was higher among senior auditors as compared to junior auditors working at NonBig4 firms. Results confirmed that time budget pressure and professional skepticism are two predictors of premature sign off and under reporting of time. Emotional intelligence also moderated the relationship between the time budget pressure and premature sign off. However, the findings did not support the moderation effect of emotional intelligence on the relationship of time budget pressure and under reporting of time. This study brings practical contribution to auditing profession; particularly to the regulatory body of auditors “Institute of Chartered Accountant of Pakistan” and audit firms. Thereby, this study will be beneficial to help understand dysfunctional audit behaviour which has been understudied or overlooked in Pakistani context.

Antecedents of dysfunctional audit behaviour among auditors in Pakistan

The aim of total quality management (TQM) is to achieve customer satisfaction. Healthcare industry is very important in Malaysia for providing good healthcare services to public. However, failure to improve quality and efficiency is a big challenge in a healthcare industry in order to increase quality healthcare services. The objectives of this research are to identify the extent level of TQM implementation; and to determine the impact of TQM implementation on business sustainable in healthcare industry. Quantitative approach has been chosen as the methodology of this study. Total quality management practices in Malaysia healthcare industry

Globalization and trade liberalization have changed to tremendous challenges and threat for Malaysian companies to strive in ASEAN. Quality is crucial aspect for companies to maintain and expanse their business in competitive market. Thus, many companies have implemented Total Quality Management (TQM) to improve their companies to the higher level of business performance. ASEAN countries have implemented Asean Free Trade Agreement (AFTA) by eliminating tariffs amongst the countries to ensure ASEAN to be more effective and efficient in terms cost. Nevertheless, AFTA is an advantage for multinational companies especially foreign companies because they have much resources such technology and technical capability. The study of AFTA as a moderator is less done in previous research. The main contribution of this study is to determine the effect of AFTA as a moderator. Based on 1500 surveys, final received response is 327 surveys which equal to 21.8% of response rate. However, 8 surveys have been excluded because of common method bias and missing value issue. The final usable question is 319 which equal to 21.3%. The result shows that AFTA has significant impact on relationship between TQM and business performance as moderator. The Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) techniques were applied to determine the effect of AFTA as moderator on TQM performance model.
