A Mitochondria-K+ Channel Axis Is Suppressed in Cancer and Its Normalization Promotes Apoptosis and Inhibits Cancer Growth
Sébastien Bonnet,Stephen L. Archer,Joan Allalunis-Turner,Alois Haromy,Christian Beaulieu,Richard B. Thompson,Christopher T. Lee,Gary D. Lopaschuk,Lakshmi Puttagunta,Sandra Bonnet,Gwyneth Harry,Kyoko Hashimoto,Christopher J. Porter,Miguel A. Andrade,Bernard Thébaud,Evangelos D. Michelakis +15 more
TL;DR: The unique metabolic profile of cancer (aerobic glycolysis) might confer apoptosis resistance and be therapeutically targeted and the orally available DCA is a promising selective anticancer agent.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clinical recommendations for cardiovascular magnetic resonance mapping of T1, T2, T2 and extracellular volume: A consensus statement by the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance (SCMR) endorsed by the European Association for Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI)
Daniel Messroghli,James C. Moon,Vanessa M Ferreira,Lars Grosse-Wortmann,Taigang He,Peter Kellman,Julia Mascherbauer,Reza Nezafat,Michael Salerno,Erik B. Schelbert,Andrew J. Taylor,Richard B. Thompson,Martin Ugander,Ruud B. van Heeswijk,Matthias G. Friedrich +14 more
TL;DR: This document provides a summary of the existing evidence for the clinical value of parametric mapping in the heart as of mid 2017, and gives recommendations for practical use in different clinical scenarios for scientists, clinicians, and CMR manufacturers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Serial Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Injected Mesenchymal Stem Cells
Jonathan Hill,Alexander Dick,Venkatesh K. Raman,Richard B. Thompson,Zu Xi Yu,K. Allison Hinds,Breno S.S. Pessanha,Michael A. Guttman,Timothy R. Varney,Bradley J. Martin,Cynthia E. Dunbar,Elliot R. McVeigh,Robert J. Lederman +12 more
TL;DR: IFP labeling of MSCs imparts useful MRI contrast, enabling ready detection in the beating heart on a conventional cardiac MR scanner after transplantation into normal and infarcted myocardium.
Journal ArticleDOI
Saturation recovery single-shot acquisition (SASHA) for myocardial T1 mapping
Kelvin Chow,Jacqueline A. Flewitt,Jacqueline A. Flewitt,Jordin D. Green,Joseph J Pagano,Matthias G. Friedrich,Matthias G. Friedrich,Richard B. Thompson +7 more
TL;DR: A new saturation recovery single‐shot acquisition (SASHA) pulse sequence for T1 mapping and to compare SASHA T1 values in heart failure patients and healthy controls are studied.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multidisciplinary Approach to Novel Therapies in Cardio-Oncology Research (MANTICORE 101–Breast): A Randomized Trial for the Prevention of Trastuzumab-Associated Cardiotoxicity
Edith Pituskin,John R. Mackey,Sheri L. Koshman,Davinder S. Jassal,Marshall Pitz,Mark J. Haykowsky,Joseph J Pagano,Kelvin Chow,Richard B. Thompson,Larissa J. Vos,Sunita Ghosh,Gavin Y. Oudit,Justin A. Ezekowitz,D. Ian Paterson +13 more
TL;DR: Perindopril and bisoprolol were well tolerated in patients with HER2-positive early breast cancer who received trastuzumab and protected against cancer therapy-related declines in LVEF; however, trastzumab-mediated left ventricular remodeling-the primary outcome-was not prevented by these pharmacotherapies.
