Stromal Fibroblasts Present in Invasive Human Breast Carcinomas Promote Tumor Growth and Angiogenesis through Elevated SDF-1/CXCL12 Secretion

TL;DR: Using a coimplantation tumor xenograft model, it is demonstrated that carcinoma-associated fibroblasts extracted from human breast carcinomas promote the growth of admixed breast carcinoma cells significantly more than do normal mammaries derived from the same patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Software for computing and annotating genomic ranges.

TL;DR: This work describes Bioconductor infrastructure for representing and computing on annotated genomic ranges and integrating genomic data with the statistical computing features of R and its extensions, including those for sequence analysis, differential expression analysis and visualization.
Journal ArticleDOI

An embryonic stem cell–like gene expression signature in poorly differentiated aggressive human tumors

TL;DR: The results reveal a previously unknown link between genes associated with ES cell identity and the histopathological traits of tumors and support the possibility that these genes contribute to stem cell–like phenotypes shown by many tumors.
