Preschool teachers’ preparation programs in Turkey: A multi-level analysis of variables on classroom management models

Abstract: This quantitative study aimed to address variables related to six classroom management models used by 1323 preservice preschool teachers: behavioral change theory, Dreikurs, Canter, Glasser, Kounin, and Gordon models. Data were collected using a demographic characteristics form and the Classroom Management Strategy Determination Scale. Data were analyzed using hierarchical linear modeling. Results showed that the classroom management course taught by experts helped preservice preschool teachers choose the right models. Gender played a role in Dreikurs’ social discipline model, while undergraduate education played a role in Canter’s assertive discipline model.

Did Francis Bacon’s attitude towards the role of mathematics in natural philosophy change between 1605 and 1623?

Abstract: It is a well-known claim that Francis Bacon gave an auxiliary role to mathematics in his natural philosophical inquiries. It has also been argued that Bacon gave this auxiliary role to mathematics just after he extended the role of mathematics to all parts of natural philosophy in his " De Augmentis Scientiarum" (1623), while he confined its role to metaphysics in his " Advancement of Learning" (1605). In this paper, however, I argue that there is no difference in Bacon’s attitude towards the role of mathematics in natural philosophical inquiries between 1605 and 1623. Withdrawal Notice: Fabrication of Bidirectional Electrothermal Microactuator by Two-Photon Polymerization

Abstract: Alternative micro/nanofabrication methods are being investigated actively due to the cost, time consumption and complexities involving in conventional MEMS fabrication practices. The majority of fabrication techniques are based on several strictly followed steps, thus demanding more extended periods and attention. One of the fabrication techniques that emerged to address those issues mentioned above is called Two-Photon Polymerization (2PP). In this work, 2PP based 3D printing technique has been utilized to perform the fabrication of an electrothermal microactuator using support structure, and its operability has been illustrated via experiments. The characterization results show a movement of 2.82 µm when a voltage of 5 to 7V is applied to the microactuator. Any voltage above 7V causes the breakage in the actuator arms. Since it is a bidirectional actuator, therefore, the total movement span is 5.64 µm. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Analytical analysis of the designed electrothermal structure were performed before the fabrication process.
