04 Mar 1998TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a new signal processing architecture for base stations and gateways (124, 126) used in spread spectrum communication systems (100) that simplifies data transfer, reduces required bus capacity, and does not require special synchronization of signals that are to be combined.
Abstract: A new signal processing architecture for base stations and gateways (124, 126) used in spread spectrum communication systems (100) that simplifies data transfer, reduces required bus capacity, and does not require special synchronization of signals that are to be combined. A series of transmission modules (5081-508M) are used to transfer data to corresponding ones of a series of analog transmitters (4121-412M) used to form communication circuits for each system user. Each transmission module (5081-508M) employs a series of encoders (502MR) and modulators (504MS) to form spread communication signals, using appropriate PN spreading codes. Spread spectrum communication signals from each module (508) for each system user (D), are summed together (5101-510M) and transferred to a single analog transmitter (412) associated with that module. The signals being combined are automatically synchronized by common timing signals used for elements within each module. The number of processing elements within each module is such that at least one processing path is available for each user or user channel over which it is desired to transmit information through the connected analog transmitter (4121-412M). Data is output from the modules (5081-508M) at a greatly reduced transfer rate which can be more easily accommodated using current technology. This is very useful for satellite based communication systems, or high capacity cellular systems, and this system architecture can be accomplished cost effectively using a series of easily manufactured circuit modules.

14 Jun 2004TL;DR: In this paper, a method for delivering data recovered by a HARQ entity in proper order to higher layers in a CDMA system is presented, where packets are transmitted in a sequential order based on transmission sequence numbers assigned to the packets, and missing packets may be detected based on the TSNs of the received packets.
Abstract: Techniques for delivering data recovered by a HARQ entity in proper order to higher layers in a CDMA system. In a method, packets are received from the HARQ entity by the re-ordering entity and missing packets among the received packets are detected. Packets may be transmitted in a sequential order based on transmission sequence numbers (TSNs) assigned to the packets, and missing packets may be detected based on the TSNs of the received packets. Delivery of received packets later than the missing packets are stalled because higher layers expect data in-order. A determination is thereafter made whether each missing packet is (1) subsequently received from the HARQ entity or (2) lost, by successively eliminating HARQ channels that may be used to send the missing packet. Received packets previously stalled by each missing packet are delivered after the missing packet is determined to be lost or received.

12 Feb 2010TL;DR: In this article, a wireless signal with an antenna and indentifying one of a wireless charging module and a near-field communication module to which the received signal is associated is presented.
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments are directed to wireless electronic devices. A method may comprise receiving a wireless signal with an antenna and indentifying one of a wireless charging module and a near-field communication module to which the received signal is associated. The method may further comprise conveying the received signal to the identified one of the wireless charging module and the near-field communication module.

11 Apr 2002TL;DR: In this article, a group communication session is defined by at least a wireless telephone network coupled to a computer network, where the communications network is associated with a plurality of communication devices (14, 16, 18, 20) that define a group communications net.
Abstract: System and methods for delivering information include a communications network defined by at least a wireless telephone network (22) coupled to a computer network (24), where the communications network is associated with a plurality of communication devices (14, 16, 18, 20) that define a group communications net. A communications manager (32) is operable to provide a group communication session by receiving a data packet from one member of the group communications net and transmitting the data packet through the computer network to at least one of the other members of the group communications net. A message module (28) having a plurality of informational messages is associated with the communications manager, and a delivery module (30) is coupled to each of the message module, the communications manager, and the communications network. The delivery module is operable to monitor the group communication session and to deliver one of the plurality of informational massages to the group communications net. Further, methods of billing a user for participation in the group communications session include discounting an amount due based on receipt of informational messages.

25 Aug 2009TL;DR: In this paper, a method for concurrent reception of wireless power and NFC includes receiving an induced current from an antenna, rectifying the induced current into DC power for use by an electronic device, and demodulating the induced currents concurrent with rectifying to determine any data for the NFC.
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments are directed to wireless power transfer and Near-Field Communication (NFC) operation. An electronic device includes an antenna configured to resonate at an NFC frequency and generate an induced current. The electronic device further including rectifier circuitry and NFC circuitry each concurrently coupled to the induced current. The rectifier circuitry configured to rectify the induced current into DC power for the electronic device and the NFC circuitry configured to demodulate any data on the induced current. A method for concurrent reception of wireless power and NFC includes receiving an induced current from an antenna, rectifying the induced current into DC power for use by an electronic device, and demodulating the induced current concurrent with rectifying to determine any data for the NFC.
