TLDR
In this article, the authors proposed a correction method that neither uses 204Pb nor assumes concordance, but uses a numeric solution to a set of equations relating the content of radiogenic lead in a zircon or other U/Th-enriched mineral to its total lead content.

The application of laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry to in situ U–Pb zircon geochronology

TL;DR: In this paper, a laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometer (LA-ICP-MS) was used for in situ U-Pb zircon geochronology.

Continental and Oceanic Crust Recycling-induced Melt^Peridotite Interactions in the Trans-North China Orogen: U^Pb Dating, Hf Isotopes and Trace Elements in Zircons from Mantle Xenoliths

TL;DR: In this article, the first finding of continental crust-derived Precambrian zircons in garnet/spinel pyroxenite veins within mantle xenoliths carried by the Neogene Hannuoba basalt in the central zone of the North China Craton (NCC).
Journal ArticleDOI

Reappraisement and refinement of zircon U-Pb isotope and trace element analyses by LA-ICP-MS

TL;DR: In this paper, a protocol was established for simultaneous measurements of zircon U-Pb ages and trace elements by LA-ICP-MS at spot sizes of 16-32?m.

Accurate U-Pb Age and Trace Element Determinations of Zircon by Laser Ablation-Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry

TL;DR: In this paper, laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry was used for age determination of zircons of Proterozoic to Oligocene ages (1060-31 Ma).

Archean crustal evolution in the northern Yilgarn Craton: U–Pb and Hf-isotope evidence from detrital zircons

TL;DR: Whitaker et al. as mentioned in this paper integrated U-Pb dating, Hf-isotope analysis and trace-element analysis to detrital zircon populations offers a rapid means of assessing the geochronology and crustal evolution history of different terranes within a composite craton.

Approximation of terrestrial lead isotope evolution by a two-stage model

TL;DR: In this paper, a two-stage model for terrestrial lead isotope evolution is proposed, which permits the age of the earth to be that of the meteorite system and also yields good model ages for samples of all ages.

TL;DR: The roots of isotope geology can be found in this paper, where a geology of Neodymium and Strontium in meteorites and Igneous rocks is described.

Calculation of uncertainties of U-Pb isotope data

TL;DR: In this article, the estimation of errors and error correlations for various types of U-Pb isotope data, taking into account ion-beam instabilities, run-to-run variability in mass-discrimination, uncertainties in Pb and U concentrations, and uncertainties in initial Pb amount and isotopic composition, are derived.

Pb, U and Th diffusion in natural zircon

TL;DR: In this article, the U-Th-Pb isotopic system in natural zircon will typically have a closure temperature greater than 900°C, which explains why Zircon is apparently such a robust geochrometer and is capable of remaining isotopically closed through extended periods of high-grade metamorphism and partial melting of the host rock.

Radiogenic isotope geology

TL;DR: The Rb-Sr method and the Sm-Nd method have been used to detect nuclear decay in oceanic volcanics and continental rocks, respectively as discussed by the authors, and the U-series dating of igneous systems.
