The ptl, combitube, laryngeal mask, and oral airway: A randomized prehospital comparative study of ventilatory device effectiveness and cost-effectiveness in 470 cases of cardiorespiratory arrest

TLDR
The PTL, LM, and Combi appear to offer substantial advances over the OA/BVM system and the Combitube was associated with the least problems with ventilation and was the most preferred by a majority of EMAs.

The laryngeal mask—a new concept in airway management

TL;DR: A new type of airway is described, which may be used as an alternative to either the endotracheal tube or the face-mask with either spontaneous or positive pressure ventilation, and the possible merits and disadvantages are discussed.

The laryngeal mask airway

TL;DR: Experience of more than 500 cases suggests that the laryngeal mask airway may have a valuable role to play in all types of inhalational anaesthesia, while its proven value in some cases of difficult intubation indicates that it may contribute significantly to the safety of general anaesthesia.

Complications of Cardiac Resuscitation

TL;DR: In a prospective study of the complications of cardiac resuscitation, 705 cases were autopsied to identify the cause of death and the pathologic findings attributable to cardiac resuscitate, and Thoracic complications were observed in 42.7 percent of the cases.

Laryngeal mask airway and tracheal tube insertion by unskilled personnel

TL;DR: After a short training programme 11 naval medical trainees inserted a laryngeal mask airway (LMA) and a tracheal tube (ETT) in random order in a total of 110 anaesthetised patients, finding that first attempts at LMA insertion were successful, whereas satisfactory ETT placement was progressive.
