Immune restoration disease after the treatment of immunodeficient HIV‐infected patients with highly active antiretroviral therapy
Martyn A. French,Nat Lenzo,Mina John,Simon Mallal,Elizabeth McKinnon,Ian James,Patricia Price,James Flexman,M-L. Tay-Kearney +8 more
TL;DR: A single‐centre retrospective study of all HIV‐infected patients commencing HAART prior to 1 July 1997 was undertaken to determine the incidence, characteristics and time of onset of disease episodes in HAART responders.
Journal ArticleDOI
Eosinopenia as a diagnostic marker of bloodstream infection in hospitalised paediatric and adult patients: a case-control study.
TL;DR: The presence of eosinopenia can be considered as an inexpensive warning test for bloodstream infection in hospitalised adult patients so that further investigations can be initiated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Optimal use of plasma and urine BK viral loads for screening and predicting BK nephropathy.
Peter Boan,Christopher Hewison,Ramyasuda Swaminathan,Ashley Irish,Kevin Warr,Rajalingam Sinniah,Todd M. Pryce,James Flexman +7 more
TL;DR: Frequent urinary BK viral load screening for the prevention of BKVN is suggested due to its high sensitivity and earlier detection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparison of noninvasive models of fibrosis in chronic hepatitis B
Spiro Raftopoulos,Jacob George,Marc Bourlière,Enrico Rossi,W.B. De Boer,Gary P. Jeffrey,Gary P. Jeffrey,Max Bulsara,David J. Speers,Gerry MacQuillan,Gerry MacQuillan,Helena L. Ching,N. Kontorinis,Wendy Cheng,James Flexman,Soraya Fermoyle,Paul Rigby,Lachlan Walsh,D. Mcleod,Leon A. Adams,Leon A. Adams +20 more
TL;DR: Serum fibrosis models are predictive of fibrosis in CHB and assist in identifying subjects with low–normal ALT levels for treatment and identify subjects withLow alanine aminotransferase levels for Treatment.
Journal ArticleDOI
Analysis of the QuantiFERON-CMV assay, CMV viraemia and antiviral treatment following solid organ transplantation in Western Australia
Grace Thompson,Peter Boan,J. Baumwol,Aron Chakera,Gerry MacQuillan,Suda Swaminathan,Melanie Lavender,James Flexman,Ian James,Mina John +9 more
TL;DR: Positive QuantiFERON-CMV responses at cessation of antiviral prophylaxis were significantly associated with pre-transplant CMV seropositivity and the development of asymptomatic viraemia post-trans transplantation, which may contribute to decision making in concert with the serological risk profile, net state of immunosuppression and CMV viral load.
