Nanotechnology in biomedical applications: a review
TLDR
Recent developments in nanobiotechnology are reviewed with special emphasis on load bearing implants and novel tissue engineered scaffolds and major challenges to practical applications are highlighted.Abstract:
Incorporation of functionalised and modified nanostructures in various biomedical applications has generated considerable research interest in recent years. The applications of nanotechnology in medicine and biomedical engineering are vast and spans areas such as implant and tissue engineering, diagnosis and therapy. The present scenario demands designing of nanotools which can respond to the needs of biological problems and prepare more efficient biomedical approaches. This article reviews recent developments in nanobiotechnology with special emphasis on load bearing implants and novel tissue engineered scaffolds. Novel research approaches in nanomedicine and major challenges to practical applications are also highlighted.read more

Bending of Euler–Bernoulli beams using Eringen’s integral formulation: A paradox resolved
TL;DR: In this article, the problem of static bending of Euler-Bernoulli beams using the Eringen integral constitutive equation is formulated, and a general method to solve the problem rigorously in integral form is proposed.

Biomedical applications of nanotechnology.
TL;DR: The chemical and physical properties of the surface of these materials allow their use in diagnosis, biosensing and bioimaging devices, drug delivery systems, and bone substitute implants, and toxicology of these particles is discussed in the light of a new field referred to as nanotoxicology that studies the surface effects emerging from nanostructured materials.

Free vibrations of Bernoulli-Euler nano-beams by the stress-driven nonlocal integral model
TL;DR: In this article, the free vibrations of nano-beams are investigated by making recourse to the novel stress-driven nonlocal integral model (SDM), which provides an effective methodology to describe nonlocal phenomena in NEMS.

Vibrations of Bernoulli-Euler beams using the two-phase nonlocal elasticity theory
José Fernández-Sáez,Ramón Zaera +1 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the in-plane free vibrations (axial and bending) of a Bernoulli-Euler nanobeam using the mixed local/non-local Eringen elasticity theory is studied.

Silver nanoparticles: aggregation behavior in biorelevant conditions and its impact on biological activity
Péter Bélteky,Andrea Rónavári,Nóra Igaz,Bettina Szerencsés,Ildikó Y. Tóth,Ilona Pfeiffer,Mónika Kiricsi,Zoltán Kónya +7 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that high aggregation grade in both AgNP samples attenuated their toxic effect toward living cells, and showed that nanoparticle behavior in complex systems can be estimated by simple compounds like sodium chloride and glutamine.
