A climatological data set of temperature and salinity for the Baltic Sea and the North Sea

TL;DR: In this article, a climatological monthly mean data set for temperature and salinity in the area of the North Sea and Baltic Sea is presented, where more than 3.1 million temperature observations (2.9 million for salinity) collected during the period 1900 to 1996 were compiled and gridded on a 10×10 km grid with 18 vertical levels.
Journal ArticleDOI

Decadal changes in the wind forcing over the North Sea

TL;DR: In this paper, a wind statistic for the North Sea is derived using data from the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis for the 40-year period from 1958 to 1997, including the monthly mean wind speed and decadal variability in angular distribution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Sensitivity of atmosphere-ocean heat exchange and heat content in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea

TL;DR: In this article, a 3-d baroclinic coupled ice-ocean model was applied to the connected marginal seas, North Sea and Baltic Sea, to investigate the seasonal cycle of both heat content of the water column and atmosphere-oceans heat exchange throughout the seasonal cycles.
