TL;DR: It is confirmed that colorectal cancer risk is positively associated with high consumption of red and processed meat and support an inverse association with fish intake.

TL;DR: A very small inverse association between intake of total fruits and vegetables and cancer risk was observed in this study, and caution should be applied in their interpretation.
Journal ArticleDOI
European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) calibration study: rationale, design and population characteristics
Nadia Slimani,Rudolph Kaaks,Pietro Ferrari,Corinne Casagrande,Françoise Clavel-Chapelon,G Lotze,Anja Kroke,Dimitrios Trichopoulos,Antonia Trichopoulou,C. Lauria,M Bellegotti,Marga C. Ocké,Petra H.M. Saracci,Elio Riboli +26 more
TL;DR: The overall results suggest that, after adjustment for age, dietary intakes estimated from calibration samples can reasonably be interpreted as representative of the main cohorts in most of the EPIC centres.
Journal ArticleDOI
Standardization of the 24-hour diet recall calibration method used in the european prospective investigation into cancer and nutrition (EPIC): general concepts and preliminary results.
Nadia Slimani,Pamela Ferrari,Marga C. Ocké,Ailsa A Welch,H. Boeing,M van Liere,M van Liere,V. Pala,Pilar Amiano,Areti Lagiou,Irene Mattisson,Connie Stripp,Dagrun Engeset,R Charrondière,M Buzzard,W.A. van Staveren,Elio Riboli +16 more
TL;DR: These results showed an interviewer effect in certain countries and a significant difference between gender, suggesting an underlying respondent’s effect due to the higher under-reporting among women that was consistently observed in EPIC.
