Journal ArticleDOI
The first draft of the pigeonpea genome sequence
Nagendra K. Singh,Deepak K. Gupta,Pawan Kumar Jayaswal,Ajay Kumar Mahato,Sutapa Dutta,Surya Prakash Singh,Shefali Bhutani,Vivek Dogra,Bikram Singh,Giriraj Kumawat,Jitendra Kumar Pal,Awadhesh Pandit,Alok Singh,Hukum Rawal,Akhilesh Kumar,G. Rama Prashat,A. K. Khare,Rekha Yadav,Ranjit S. Raje,Mahendra Narain Singh,Subhojit Datta,B. Fakrudin,Keshav B. Wanjari,Rekha Kansal,Prasanta K. Dash,Pradeep K. Jain,Ramcharan Bhattacharya,Kishor Gaikwad,Trilochan Mohapatra,Ramamurthy Srinivasan,Tilak Raj Sharma +30 more
TL;DR: This is the first plant genome sequence completed entirely through a network of Indian institutions led by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and provides a valuable resource for the pigeonpea variety improvement.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic variation and relationships among eight Indian riverine buffalo breeds.
Satish Kumar,Jalaj Gupta,Niraj Kumar,Kirti Dikshit,Naveen Kumar Navani,Pradeep K. Jain,Muniyandi Nagarajan +6 more
TL;DR: Analysis of molecular variance refuted the earlier classification of these breeds proposed on the basis of morphological and geographical parameters and will be useful for development of rational breeding and conservation strategies for Indian buffaloes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification and characterization of Wilt and salt stress-responsive microRNAs in chickpea through high-throughput sequencing.
D.K. Kohli,Gopal Joshi,Amit Deokar,Ankur R. Bhardwaj,Manu Agarwal,Surekha Katiyar-Agarwal,Ramamurthy Srinivasan,Pradeep K. Jain +7 more
TL;DR: Several conserved and novel miRNAs in the chickpea are identified that are associated with gene regulation following exposure to wilt and salt stress, indicating the existence of cross talk between the pathways that are involved in regulating these stresses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparative analysis of expressed sequence tags (ESTs) between drought-tolerant and -susceptible genotypes of chickpea under terminal drought stress
Amit Deokar,Vishwajith Kondawar,Pradeep K. Jain,S. Mohan Karuppayil,Nikku L. Raju,Vincent Vadez,Rajeev K. Varshney,Rajeev K. Varshney,Ramamurthy Srinivasan +8 more
TL;DR: This study compares not only genes that are up- and down-regulated in a drought-tolerant genotype under terminal drought stress and a drought susceptible genotype but also between the bulks of the selected RILs exhibiting extreme phenotypes to provide a better insight into the selection of candidate genes associated with drought tolerance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic structure and diversity analysis of the primary gene pool of chickpea using SSR markers.
PC Choudhary,Suruchi M. Khanna,Pradeep K. Jain,Chellapilla Bharadwaj,J. Kumar,P.C. Lakhera,Ramamurthy Srinivasan +6 more
TL;DR: Diversity was confined to the wild species, which had higher values of polymorphic information content, gene diversity and heterozygosity than the cultivated species, suggesting a narrow genetic base for cultivated chickpea.
