Journal ArticleDOI

The LHCb detector at the LHC

A. A. Alves, +889 more
TL;DR: The LHCb experiment is dedicated to precision measurements of CP violation and rare decays of B hadrons at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN (Geneva).
Journal ArticleDOI

Radiation-hard semiconductor detectors for SuperLHC

Mara Bruzzi, +284 more
TL;DR: The latest advancements within the RD50 collaboration on radiation hard semiconductor detectors are reviewed and discussed in this work as mentioned in this paper, which includes the development of new or defect engineered detector materials (SiC, GaN, Czochralski and epitaxial silicon), the improvement of present detector designs and the understanding of the microscopic defects causing the degradation of the irradiated detectors.
Journal ArticleDOI

The LHCb VELO: status and upgrade developments

TL;DR: The VErtex LOcator (VELO) is the silicon microstrip vertexing and triggering sub-detector of the LHCb experiment as discussed by the authors, which consists of a series of forward disks with the active region extending to just 8 mm from the HPC beams.
