TL;DR: The developed array and cluster identification algorithms provide an opportunity to infer detailed haplotype structure in polyploid wheat and will serve as an invaluable resource for diversity studies and investigating the genetic basis of trait variation in wheat.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: The assembly of the genome of durum wheat cultivar Svevo enables genome-wide genetic diversity analyses highlighting modifications imposed by thousands of years of empirical selection and breeding.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genebank genomics highlights the diversity of a global barley collection
Sara Giulia Milner,Matthias Jost,Matthias Jost,Shin Taketa,Elena Rey Mazón,Axel Himmelbach,Markus Oppermann,Stephan Weise,Helmut Knüpffer,Martin Basterrechea,Patrick König,Danuta Schüler,Rajiv Sharma,Rajiv Sharma,Raj K. Gonzalez,Yusheng Zhao,Antje Habekuß,Sandra Färber,Frank Ordon,Matthias Lange,Andreas Börner,Andreas Graner,Jochen C. Reif,Uwe Scholz,Martin Mascher,Nils Stein,Nils Stein +37 more
TL;DR: The analysis of genome-wide genotyping-by-sequencing data for almost all barley accessions of the German ex situ genebank provides insights into the global population structure of domesticated barley and points out redundancies and coverage gaps in one of the world’s major genebanks.
Journal ArticleDOI
A high‐density, SNP‐based consensus map of tetraploid wheat as a bridge to integrate durum and bread wheat genomics and breeding
Marco Maccaferri,Andrea Ricci,Silvio Salvi,Sara Giulia Milner,Enrico Noli,Pier Luigi Martelli,Rita Casadio,Eduard Akhunov,Simone Scalabrin,Vera Vendramin,Karim Ammar,Antonio Blanco,Francesca Desiderio,Assaf Distelfeld,Jorge Dubcovsky,Jorge Dubcovsky,Tzion Fahima,Justin D. Faris,Abraham B. Korol,A. Massi,Anna M. Mastrangelo,Michele Morgante,Curtis J. Pozniak,Amidou N’Diaye,Steven S. Xu,Roberto Tuberosa +25 more
TL;DR: A high-density tetraploid wheat consensus map is assembled by integrating 13 data sets from independent biparental populations involving durum wheat cultivars and their ancestor to facilitate a more effective integration and exploitation of genes and QTL for wheat breeding purposes.
Journal ArticleDOI
A multiparental cross population for mapping QTL for agronomic traits in durum wheat (Triticum turgidum ssp. durum)
Sara Giulia Milner,Marco Maccaferri,Bevan Emma Huang,Paola Mantovani,A. Massi,Elisabetta Frascaroli,Roberto Tuberosa,Silvio Salvi +7 more
TL;DR: This durum wheat population provides a mapping resource for detailed genetic dissection of agronomic traits in an elite background typical of breeding programmes and it is shown that QTL results based on founder haplotypes closely matched functional alleles at known heading date loci.
