Changes in Lipoprotein Kinetics Associated With Type 2 Diabetes Affect the Distribution of Lipopolysaccharides Among Lipoproteins

TL;DR: The data suggest that in humans, free LPS transfers first to HDL and then to V LDL, whereas the LPS-bound LDL fraction is mainly derived from VLDL catabolism; the latter may hence represent a LPS catabolic pathway.
Journal ArticleDOI

Validation of a liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry method to assess the metabolism of bupropion in rat everted gut sacs

TL;DR: The detection of dextrorphan and 3-methoxymorphinan showed that both the P450 isoforms CYP3A and 2D were active in the intestinal mucosa and metabolised dextromethorphan during its passage across the mucosa.
Journal Article

The metabolism of midazolam and comparison with other CYP enzyme substrates during intestinal absorption: in vitro studies with rat everted gut sacs.

TL;DR: Given that the everted rat gut sac model provides a useful tool to assess the role of metabolism during drug absorption by the intestine and is also capable of demonstrating P-glycoprotein mediated transport, this method enables drug metabolism to be studied during absorption.
Journal ArticleDOI

Oral absorption of ampicillin: role of paracellular route vs. PepT1 transporter

TL;DR: It is suggested that paracellular diffusion is the major mechanism of absorption, at least for β‐lactam antibiotics with poor bioavailability, such as ampicillin, and that the use of Caco‐2 cells underestimates the role of the parACEllular route in the absorption of hydrophilic drugs in vivo, and may exaggerate the roles of influx transporters.
