The ALICE experiment at the CERN LHC

K. Aamodt, +1154 more
TL;DR: The Large Ion Collider Experiment (ALICE) as discussed by the authors is a general-purpose, heavy-ion detector at the CERN LHC which focuses on QCD, the strong-interaction sector of the Standard Model.
Journal ArticleDOI

TRIPOLI-4®, CEA, EDF and AREVA reference Monte Carlo code

TL;DR: An overview of TRIPOLI-4®, the fourth generation of the 3D continuous-energy Monte Carlo code developed by the Service d’Etudes des Reacteurs et de Mathematiques Appliquees at CEA Saclay is presented.

TRIPOLI-4®, CEA, EDF and AREVA Reference Monte Carlo Code

TL;DR: An overview of TRIPOLI-4®, the fourth generation of the 3D continuous-energy Monte Carlo code developed by the Service d’Etudes des Reacteurs et de Mathematiques Appliquees (SERMA) at CEA Saclay is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Spatial extent of an outbreak in animal epidemics

TL;DR: The spatial extent of an epidemic can be assessed by computing the convex hull enclosing the infected individuals at a given time by derived the exact evolution equations for the mean perimeter and the mean area of the conveX hull, and compared with Monte Carlo simulations.
