The ALICE experiment at the CERN LHC

K. Aamodt, +1154 more
TL;DR: The Large Ion Collider Experiment (ALICE) as discussed by the authors is a general-purpose, heavy-ion detector at the CERN LHC which focuses on QCD, the strong-interaction sector of the Standard Model.
Journal ArticleDOI

ALICE: Physics Performance Report, Volume II

Pietro Cortese, +978 more
- 13 Sep 2006 -
TL;DR: The ALICE Collaboration as mentioned in this paper is a general-purpose heavy-ion experiment designed to study the physics of strongly interacting matter and the quark-gluon plasma in nucleus-nucleus collisions at the LHC.
Journal ArticleDOI

Energy dependence of pion and kaon production in central Pb+Pb collisions

S. Afanasiev, +90 more
- 01 Nov 2002 -
TL;DR: In this article, the mean pion multiplicity per wounded nucleon increases approximately linearly with a change of slope starting in the region 15--40 A GeV, and the change from pion suppression with respect to $p+p$ interactions, as observed at low collision energies, to pion enhancement at high energies occurs at about 40A GeV.
Journal ArticleDOI

Suppression of charged particle production at large transverse momentum in central Pb–Pb collisions at sNN=2.76 TeV

K. Aamodt, +912 more
- 24 Jan 2011 -
TL;DR: In this article, the authors measured the transverse momentum spectra of primary charged particles in Pb-Pb collisions at root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV at the ALICE Collaboration at the LHC.
Journal ArticleDOI

Measurement of the spin dependent structure function g1(x) of the deuteron

Bernardo Adeva, +165 more
- 01 Apr 1993 -
TL;DR: In this paper, the spin-dependent structure function g1 p of the proton was measured in deep inelastic scattering of polarized muons off polarized protons, in the kinematic range 0.136±0.011 (stat.)± 0.011(syst.) at Q2 = 10GeV2.
