Upwelling mechanisms in the northwestern Alboran Sea

TL;DR: In this article, a series of hydrographic surveys were carried out in the Northwestern part of the Alboran Sea to investigate the upwelling that is an almost permanent feature in this area.
Journal ArticleDOI

The Gulf of Cádiz pelagic ecosystem: A review

TL;DR: The Gulf of Cadiz has been the focus of attention of a few oceanographic studies dealing with the deep circulation in order to understand the dynamics of the dense plume of Mediterranean water as discussed by the authors.

Copernicus Marine Service Ocean State Report

Karina von Schuckmann, +121 more
TL;DR: Sandrine Mulet, Bruno Buongiorno Nardelli, Simon Good, Andrea Pisano, Eric Greiner, Maeva Monier, Emmanuel... as discussed by the authors The Essential Variables of Ocean Temperature and Salinity
Journal ArticleDOI

Tide at the eastern section of the Strait of Gibraltar

TL;DR: In this article, three mooring lines were deployed at the eastern entrance of the Strait of Gibraltar from October 1995 to April 1996, and three different sets of observations were used to interpret the time-dependent hydraulic theory, showing that the composite Froude number does not reach the critical values predicted in the hydraulic models most of the time.
Journal ArticleDOI

Low-frequency variability of the exchanged flows through the Strait of Gibraltar during CANIGO

TL;DR: In this paper, a time series of exchanged flows through the Strait of Gibraltar at the eastern section have been estimated from current-meter observations taken between October 1995 and May 1998 within the Canary Islands Azores Gibraltar Observations (CANIGO) project.
