Small "flat adenoma" of the large bowel with special reference to its clinicopathologic features.
Tetsuichiro Muto,J. Kamiya,Toshio Sawada,Fumio Konishi,K. Sugihara,Yoshiro Kubota,Adachi M,S. Agawa,Yukio Saito,Yasuhiko Morioka,T. Tanprayoon +10 more
TL;DR: Thirty-three small “flat adenomas,” not more than 1 cm in diameter, were collected from surgically and colonoscopically removed specimens, and their colonoscopic and histologic characteristics were described.
Journal ArticleDOI
Significance of lateral node dissection for advanced rectal carcinoma at or below the peritoneal reflection.
TL;DR: Two hundred thirty two patients with rectal cancer at or below the peritoneal reflection, who underwent extended systematic lymphadenectomy, especially lateral node dissection, were reviewed with respect to survival rate, degree of surgical technique, and mode of recurrence.
Journal ArticleDOI
Safety and efficacy of granulocyte and monocyte adsorption apheresis in patients with active ulcerative colitis: a multicenter study.
Takashi Shimoyama,Koji Sawada,Nobuo Hiwatashi,Toshio Sawada,Kei Matsueda,Akihiro Munakata,Hitoshi Asakura,Takao Tanaka,Reiji Kasukawa,Ken Kimura,Yasuo Suzuki,Yukio Nagamachi,Tetsuichiro Muto,Hirokazu Nagawa,Bunei Iizuka,Shozo Baba,Masaru Nasu,Tatsuji Kataoka,Nobuhito Kashiwagi,Abby R. Saniabadi +19 more
TL;DR: Based on the results, it is believed that in patients with active severe UC, patients who are refractory to conventional drugs, granulocyte and monocyte adsorption apheresis is a useful adjunct to conventional therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
An analysis of survival and voiding, sexual function after wide iliopelvic lymphadenectomy in patients with carcinoma of the rectum, compared with conventional lymphadenectomy.
TL;DR: Although wide iliopelvic lymphadenectomy was successful as far as decreasing the incidence of local recurrence and also in prolonging survival, there were increased incidences of urine-voiding failure and sexual impotency.
Journal ArticleDOI
Randomized, controlled trial of lateral node dissection vs. nerve-preserving resection in patients with rectal cancer after preoperative radiotherapy.
Hirokazu Nagawa,Tetsuichiro Muto,Koki Sunouchi,Yoshiki Higuchi,Giichiro Tsurita,Toshiaki Watanabe,Toshio Sawada +6 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that lateral node dissection is not necessary in terms of curability for patients with advanced carcinoma of the lower rectum who undergo preoperative radiotherapy.
