The CMS experiment at the CERN LHC

S. Chatrchyan, +3175 more
TL;DR: The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN as mentioned in this paper was designed to study proton-proton (and lead-lead) collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 14 TeV (5.5 TeV nucleon-nucleon) and at luminosities up to 10(34)cm(-2)s(-1)
Journal ArticleDOI

Measurement of the atmospheric neutrino-induced upgoing muon flux using MACRO

M. Ambrosio, +135 more
- 27 Aug 1998 -
TL;DR: In this article, a measurement of the flux of neutrino-induced upgoing muons ( ν >∼ 100 GeV) using the MACRO detector is presented, where the ratio of the observed to expected events integrated over all zenith angles is 0.74 ± 0.036 (stat) ±0.13 (theoretical).

Journal ArticleDOI

Final results of magnetic monopole searches with the MACRO experiment

M. Ambrosio, +128 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present the final results obtained by the MACRO experiment in the search for GUT magnetic monopoles in the penetrating cosmic radiation, for the range 4×10 −5 <β < 1.
Journal ArticleDOI

Matter effects in upward-going muons and sterile neutrino oscillations

M. Ambrosio, +127 more
- 27 Sep 2001 -
TL;DR: The angular distribution of upward-going muons produced by atmospheric neutrinos in the rock below the MACRO detector shows anomalies in good agreement with two flavor ν μ → ν τ oscillations with maximum mixing and Δm 2 around 0.0024 eV 2.
