Daniel J. Klionsky, +1287 more
- 01 Apr 2012 -
TL;DR: These guidelines are presented for the selection and interpretation of methods for use by investigators who aim to examine macroautophagy and related processes, as well as for reviewers who need to provide realistic and reasonable critiques of papers that are focused on these processes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Measurement of superoxide dismutase, catalase, and glutathione peroxidase in cultured cells and tissue

TL;DR: General protocols are described to measure the antioxidant enzyme activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase and glutathione peroxidase, to evaluate the levels of the various antioxidant enzymes in tissues and cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ascorbic acid: Chemistry, biology and the treatment of cancer

TL;DR: It is shown that the chemical and biochemical nature of ascorbate contribute to its antioxidant as well as its prooxidant properties, and recent pharmacokinetic data indicate that intravenous (i.v.) administration of asCorbate bypasses the tight control of the gut producing highly elevated plasma levels.
Journal ArticleDOI

Intranasal mupirocin to prevent postoperative Staphylococcus aureus infections.

TL;DR: Prophylactic intranasal application of mupirocin did not significantly reduce the rate of S. aureus surgical-site infections overall, but it did significantly decrease the rates of all nosocomial S.Aureus infections among the patients who were S.aureus carriers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Surgical management of Meckel's diverticulum. An epidemiologic, population-based study.

TL;DR: Meckel's diverticula discovered incidentally at operation should be removed for most patients, regardless of age, according to the authors.
