The antidiabetic drug metformin exerts an antitumoral effect in vitro and in vivo through a decrease of cyclin D1 level

TL;DR: Oral and intraperitoneal treatment with metformin led to a 50 and 35% reduction of tumor growth, respectively, in mice bearing xenografts of LNCaP, providing evidence for a mechanism that may contribute to the antineoplastic effects of met formin suggested by recent epidemiological studies.

Defective Thymocyte Maturation in p44 MAP Kinase (Erk 1) Knockout Mice

TL;DR: In p44 MAPK-/- thymocytes, proliferation in response to activation with a monoclonal antibody to the T cell receptor in the presence of phorbol myristate acetate was severely reduced even though activation of p42 MAPK was more sustained in these cells.
