Guidelines for the use and interpretation of assays for monitoring autophagy

Daniel J. Klionsky, +1287 more
- 01 Apr 2012 -
TL;DR: These guidelines are presented for the selection and interpretation of methods for use by investigators who aim to examine macroautophagy and related processes, as well as for reviewers who need to provide realistic and reasonable critiques of papers that are focused on these processes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Guidelines for the use and interpretation of assays for monitoring autophagy in higher eukaryotes

Daniel J. Klionsky, +235 more
- 16 Feb 2008 -
TL;DR: A set of guidelines for the selection and interpretation of the methods that can be used by investigators who are attempting to examine macroautophagy and related processes, as well as by reviewers who need to provide realistic and reasonable critiques of papers that investigate these processes are presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

IGF-I, EGF, and sex steroids regulate autophagy in bovine mammary epithelial cells via the mTOR pathway

TL;DR: Autophagy in bovine MEC undergoes complex regulation, where its activity is controlled by survival pathways dependent on IGF-I and EGF, which are involved in suppression of autophagy, and by pregnancy steroids, which act as inducers of the process.
Journal Article

Cathepsins and BID are involved in the molecular switch between apoptosis and autophagy in breast cancer MCF-7 cells exposed to camptothecin.

TL;DR: BID knock down resulted in strong suppression of CPT-induced apoptosis and a shift of cell death towards autophagy, manifesting with an increase of Beclin 1 and MAP I LC3 cellular content.
Journal Article

Apoptosis and autophagy induced by TGF-B1 in bovine mammary epithelial BME-UV1 cells.

TL;DR: Supporting evidence is provided for the TGF-beta1-induced autophagy in bovine mammary epithelial cell line BME-UV1, as a distinct to apoptosis type of PCD.
