Guidelines for the use and interpretation of assays for monitoring autophagy

Daniel J. Klionsky, +1287 more
- 01 Apr 2012 -
TL;DR: These guidelines are presented for the selection and interpretation of methods for use by investigators who aim to examine macroautophagy and related processes, as well as for reviewers who need to provide realistic and reasonable critiques of papers that are focused on these processes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Guidelines for the use and interpretation of assays for monitoring autophagy in higher eukaryotes

Daniel J. Klionsky, +235 more
- 16 Feb 2008 -
TL;DR: A set of guidelines for the selection and interpretation of the methods that can be used by investigators who are attempting to examine macroautophagy and related processes, as well as by reviewers who need to provide realistic and reasonable critiques of papers that investigate these processes are presented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Autophagy in Development and Stress Responses of Plants

TL;DR: In this article, the uptake and degradation of cytoplasmic material by vacuolar autophagy in plants has been studied extensively by electron microscopy and shown to be involved in developmental processes such as vacuole formation, deposition of seed storage proteins and senescence, and in response of plants to nutrient starvation and to pathogens.
Journal ArticleDOI

Peroxisomal alanine : glyoxylate aminotransferase (AGT1) is a photorespiratory enzyme with multiple substrates in Arabidopsis thaliana

TL;DR: It is concluded that Arabidopsis AGT1 is a peroxisomal photorespiratory enzyme that catalyzes transamination reactions with multiple substrates.
Journal ArticleDOI

Alanine Aminotransferase Homologs Catalyze the Glutamate:Glyoxylate Aminotransferase Reaction in Peroxisomes of Arabidopsis

TL;DR: Glu:glyoxylate aminotransferase activity has been observed in several locations in different plants and algae, including the cytoplasm and mitochondria, but subcellular fractionation data indicate that GGT activity was exclusively peroxisomal in Arabidopsis.
