Ethanol-induced caspase-3 activation in the in vivo developing mouse brain.

TL;DR: Using immunocytochemical methods, it is documented that ethanol intoxication of 7-day-old infant mice causes a widespread pattern of caspase-3 activation corresponding to the pattern of apoptotic neurodegeneration that is occurring simultaneously.

Neonatal lethality in transgenic mice expressing prion protein with a deletion of residues 105–125

TL;DR: Transgenic mice that express a form of murine PrP deleted for a conserved block of 21 amino acids (residues 105–125) in the unstructured, N‐terminal tail of the protein develop a severe neurodegenerative illness that was lethal within 1 week of birth.
