TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a set of guidelines for the selection and interpretation of methods for use by investigators who aim to examine macro-autophagy and related processes, as well as for reviewers who need to provide realistic and reasonable critiques of papers that are focused on these processes.

Atrogin-1 deficiency promotes cardiomyopathy and premature death via impaired autophagy

TL;DR: Charged multivesicular body protein 2B (CHMP2B), which is part of an endosomal sorting complex required for autophagy, is identified as a target of atrogin-1-mediated degradation and downregulation in atrogan-1 KO mice restored autophileagy and decreased proteotoxicity, thereby preventing cell death.
