Guidelines for the use and interpretation of assays for monitoring autophagy (3rd edition)

Daniel J. Klionsky, +2522 more
- 21 Jan 2016 -
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a set of guidelines for the selection and interpretation of methods for use by investigators who aim to examine macro-autophagy and related processes, as well as for reviewers who need to provide realistic and reasonable critiques of papers that are focused on these processes.

- 08 Feb 2021 -
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a set of guidelines for investigators to select and interpret methods to examine autophagy and related processes, and for reviewers to provide realistic and reasonable critiques of reports that are focused on these processes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genetic association of PRDM1-ATG5 intergenic region and autophagy with systemic lupus erythematosus in a Chinese population

TL;DR: Analysis of genome-wide association studies suggested the PRDM1-ATG5 gene region as a systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)-associated locus both in Caucasian and Chinese populations may demonstrate that autophagy is involved in the pathogenesis of SLE and imply a common biological pathway in autoimmunity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Exploring the Role of Autophagy-Related Gene 5 (ATG5) Yields Important Insights Into Autophagy in Autoimmune/Autoinflammatory Diseases

TL;DR: The latest insights into the role of ATG5 in autoimmunity are discussed and it is suggested that this gene may eventually come to be regarded as a “guardian of immune integrity.”
